A School Psychologist is provided by the Education Department for one day a week to the school. Their role is to assist schools who are supporting children experiencing difficulties and to make recommendations to the school. To access this service, a referral is completed by the class teacher and/or principal and this will take place after matters have been discussed with the parents.
Our school psychologist is John Thompson. He works with primary school-age children and has extensive experience working with children experiencing challenges across behavioural, emotional, social, and learning domains.
John has worked in various settings, including primary schools, high schools, and education support centres, providing a range of psychological services. John has worked collaboratively with school staff and parents to provide evidence-based strategies to support children in improving their lives.
John is committed to helping children develop resiliency, problem-solving skills, a growth mindset, and confidence to reach their full potential and promote their health and welding.
